THE WORDS BEHIND THE MUSIC

Two ways to
hold a song.

Lyrics files are small text files kept next to your audio. They let a player show the words while music is playing.

[00:14.20]

TIMED LYRICS · .LRC

They move with the music.

An LRC file places a timestamp before each lyric line. A compatible player highlights or scrolls the exact words as the track plays.

[00:12.40] Lights go down[00:15.80] We begin to sing[00:19.25] One more time
  • Best karaoke-style experience
  • Useful for following a song in real time
  • Usually saved with the same name as the audio file

SIMPLE LYRICS · .TXT

Just the words, at your pace.

A plain lyric file has no timestamps. It is ideal when you want to read, learn or sing along manually.

Lights go down
We begin to sing
One more time
  • Opens everywhere as text
  • Easy to edit or translate
  • Perfectly fine when timing is not needed

THE ONE RULE THAT HELPS

Keep audio and lyric names together.

For automatic detection, put the lyric file in the same folder as its song and use the same base name.

What it is good at

APlayer is a lightweight Android music player designed for files already stored on your device. Its clean library views and lyrics controls make it a solid match for local audio collections.

  1. 1

    Install and allow music access

Install APlayer from Google Play. At first launch, allow it to access music and audio files when Android asks; without this permission it cannot build your library.

  2. 2

Choose the folders with your audio

Open APlayer settings, find the music folder or library scan option, and select the folder where your MP3, FLAC or other audio files are saved. Let the scan finish.

  3. 3

    Download the matching lyric

From FreeKaraoke, download the .lrc file for the song. Android normally saves it in Downloads.

  4. 4

Move it next to the song

Use the Android Files app to move the downloaded lyric into the same folder as its audio track. Give both files the same name: My Song.mp3 and My Song.lrc.

  5. 5

    Show lyrics while playing

Play the song, then use the lyric button in APlayer’s Now Playing screen. If it does not appear immediately, refresh the library or reopen the track.

What it is good at

Namida is a feature-rich Android music player for local collections. Its library browser and folder controls make it convenient when your music spans several folders or storage locations.

  1. 1

    Install and grant access

Download Namida from its official installation page. On the first screen, allow music and audio access so the app can read tracks stored on your phone.

  2. 2

    Set up the music folders

In Namida’s settings, open the library or folders section. Include the folders where your music lives, then start or refresh a library scan.

  3. 3

    Save the lyric file

Find the song in FreeKaraoke and download its LRC. Use the Files app to locate it in Downloads.

  4. 4

    Match the file name

Move the lyric into the same folder as the audio, using the same base name. Example: My Song.flac and My Song.lrc.

  5. 5

    Open the lyric display

Start the track and look for the lyrics option from the Now Playing view. If the lyric is not detected, verify the name and folder, then rescan the library.
